Jazz in the city - right in your neighborhood!

The Alan Segal Quartet brings the finest samplings of Philadelphia Style Jazz to Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Church every month. Jazz & Joe is a “coffee-house” style venue. Active listening, quiet conversation and mingling are all equally welcome throughout the evening. Refreshments are served and attendees are welcome to “Bring Your Own Wine.” A voluntary donation is requested to help defray the cost.

The Alan Segal Quartet showcases some of the most accomplished jazz musicians in the Philadelphia area who specialize in Philadelphia Style Jazz. The group is comprised of Eddie Etkins on Saxophone, clarinet and flute, George Sinkler on piano, Leon Jordan Sr. on drums and Alan Segal on bass. The Alan Segal Quartet is unique in that there is no band leader and no set list. The musicians come together because the Alan Segal Quartet gives them the opportunity to play their favorite jazz pieces with their peers. Says Segal who founded the group, “Coming to a Jazz & Joe is a two hour respite from the day to day world, wrapped up in Jazz.”
