On Oct. 24, 1980 the SS Poet and its 34 crewmen disappeared while en route to Egypt to deliver food for the poor. Nine of the crewmembers were from the Philadelphia area. Every year, we gather with friends and family of these missing seamen and honor them with a special Sunday service.
