Gloria Dei is a HIAS Congregational Support Group. We are both thrilled and challenged in supporting a Congolese refugee family of eight, ranging from an adorable toddler to the proud matriarch, mother of eight, and plenty of teens and young adults in between. Relying on Google Translate and our family’s burgeoning English skills, we have helped with school visits, cell phones, utility bills, rent, GED enrollment, shoes, food, other necessaries, and transportation. We have been privileged to get to know this wonderful family. We have visited their church, Snyder Avenue Congregational, and have also worked with the congregations of St. Peter’s Church and the St. Mary Magdalene Community to support our family.
