Funeral Service for Linda (Vitkow) Konowal

Saturday, August 17th, 10-10:30 visitation, 10:30am service

Dear People of Gloria Dei,

We are sad to share the news of the passing of Linda (Vitkow) Konowal, a long time parishioner of Gloria Dei and the mother of Jaime Konowal. Service details are included in the obituary below. Please join us in giving thanks for Linda's life, and in praying for Jaime and her family during this time of loss.

Rest eternal grant to Linda, O Lord;
And let light perpetual shine upon her.
May her soul and the souls of all the departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding: Deal graciously with Linda's grieving family.
Surround them with your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss,
but have confidence in your goodness, and strength to meet the days to come;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Linda Konowal (née Vitkow), aged 72, passed away on August 10, 2024, at her home in Deptford, NJ. Born on February 22, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA, she embraced life with an enthusiastic, generous, and loving spirit.

Linda, a devoted mother and grandmother, is survived by her daughter Jaime Konowal, daughter-in-law Nora Melley-Konowal, and grandson Theodore Konowal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milford and Bertha Vitkow, and her brother, John Vitkow.

Her passions included shopping, crafting, and the color purple, activities that not only brought her joy but also allowed her to share her generous spirit with others through the beautiful items she created. She repeated regularly that she wanted her friends to go shopping after her funeral in her honor.

A service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Gloria Dei Old Swedes' (916 S Swanson St, Phila). Friends and family are invited to gather at 10:00 AM, with the service commencing at 10:30 AM. A luncheon reception will follow at Riverside Hall. Gift giving and food were Linda's love languages. Additional potluck items would be welcome at the provided luncheon to honor her memory.
